Identify is an action performed by pressing the appropriate button when available.

Identify allows you to reveal a Tuto intel ico.png Point of Interest. This action is an important function of exploration.

Learning specific neurons increases your identify abilities.

Mechanics[edit | edit source]

Depending upon whether you use Intelligence or Senses, the icon for Identify will change. The function of Identify works in the same fashion though.

Enter Intelligence ico.pngIntelligence or Sense ico.png Senses using the appropriate button. Rotate your view to find animals, clan members, items, locations within your intelligence or senses range. Hover over a point of interest and the Focus action will appear. Press the appropriate button and your view will zoom into the specific point of interest you have selected.

You can then press the appropriate button to Identify the point of interest.

After identifying items, while still in intelligence or senses, you can then Memorize ico.pngMemorize the point of interest so you can investigate it. Once a point of interest has been memorized, you can Memorize ico.pngRemember or Memorize ico.pngForget the point of interest.

If you haven't inspected or discovered the point of interest before and it is unknown to you, you will only get a large question mark ? inside of the point of interest after trying to identify or discover it. You will have to inspect or discover the unknown point of interest up close and in person to learn what it is. From that point forward, when you use intelligence or senses and the related functions to find points of interest, you will automatically know what it is. You don't have to keep going up in person to inspect or discover the same point of interest.

If you move, you can leave out of identify and your view will return to normal.

Identify will also show if an item has additional uses such as positive status effects, negative status effects, or if it can be altered into other items. Circles will appear next to the item point of interest showing symbols of what the item can be used for or changed into. At first these circles will show as a circle with a ? until you have found and identified the new effects or items. For example, if you identify a MindIcon GraniteRock.png Granite Rock point of interest, there will be a single ? circle next to the point of interest symbol. If you create a MindIcon GraniteGrinder.pngGranite Grinder and inspect it, it will reveal the granite grinder symbol on the granite rock point of interest. From that point forward, you know that a granite rock can be transformed into a granite grinder. This way you can quickly determine if an item has any other uses or can be created into something else by looking for those circles. If you haven't yet found what the item can be transformed into, try different altering methods to reveal the unknown uses.

It is possible to recreate the detailed graphical interface of the analyze action at a distance using Intelligence ico.pngIntelligence or Sense ico.png Senses, Focus, and then Identify. However, you will not be able to use rename action to change the name of the clan member using this method.
