The Megarian Banded Centipede is a wildlife item and a crawling threat animal.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

The Enemy Centipede.png Megarian Banded Centipede is an extremely large green and blue centipede frequently found in or near caves in several biomes. Occasionally the centipede will venture out far from the protection of the caves where it is normally found. Sometimes they can even wander all the way to the Region Savanna Icon.png Savanna biome. While this is very unlikely, as they rarely even wander into the Region Woodland Icon.png Woodland biome, be aware that travelling that far can happen. So stay vigilant for this dangerous animal.

Combat[edit | edit source]

The Megarian Banded Centipede is a large animal that crawls along the ground and is surprisingly quick for its large size. When first encountered, the centipede will rear up lifting itself half off the ground to make itself look more imposing. The Megarian Banded Centipede uses their large size and fast attack speed to strike with a bite to inflict Venom Poisoning minor ico.png Venom Poisoning major ico.png Venom Poisoning. Despite its large size, it is relatively easy to Intimidate ico 128.png intimidate holding weapons even without a group of hominids.

If you do decide to attack, use the best weapons you can acquire. It is recommended to use SenseIcon SharpStick.pngSharpened Sticks first, MindIcon Stick.pngSticks next, and as a last resort rocks or hard tools. The more damage you can do from a distance, the better. While it is possible to kill the centipede with a single strike, it can take multiple strikes to take down this large animal.

Carcass[edit | edit source]

The Enemy Centipede Carcass.png Megarian Banded Centipede Carcass provides SenseIcon Carcass.png Oviparous Meat when it is Butcher ico 128.pngbutchered. The carcass can be butchered three times. To butcher a carcass more than once, all the items dropped from the previous butchering must be picked up.

Interactions With Other Animals[edit | edit source]

When different animals get in close proximity to each other, they can attack and kill each other. Animals can fight each other on their own or you can cause them to move nearer to each other to initiate combat. Some of these methods are intimidation to scare them towards another animal, have them chase you and you run past another animal, or perform a dodge and the animal runs towards another animal.

When animals fight each other, a cut-scene will play showing one animal attacking and killing the other. There are a large number of Evolution Feats that deal specifically with trying to cause animals to fight and kill each other.

The Megarian Banded Centipede is a crawling threat that will defend itself but tends to flee from combat.

Can Kill[edit | edit source]

The Megarian Banded Centipede doesn't go after other animals. It may fend off an attack from another animal and kill that animal but doesn't seek out combat.

Can Be Killed By[edit | edit source]

The Megarian Banded Centipede can be killed by a single animal.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Strangely, the Megarian Banded Centipede can kill the Machairodus showing a killing animation but there is no Evolution Feat for this happening.
  • Interestingly, while the Megarian Banded Centipede can be found in caves, they are not found in Region Caves Icon.png Caves biome locations.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • While this species does exist in real life, it is significantly smaller than its in-game counterpart, topping at just under six inches in real life, vs the in-game version which is nearly equal in length to the in-game Enemy Snake.png African Rock Python.
  • The size of the in-game Megarian Banded Centipede is greatly exaggerated. The closest any real-life equivalent has come was probably Arthropleura, a 2.5 meter long millipede which went extinct 299 million years ago.
